RayAl Awarded EMDA Grant

Mansfield bio-tech company Rayal Limited will be able to expand thanks to a £55,000 grant from the East Midlands Development Agency (emda).

Founded in 2002, Rayal supplies diagnostic test kits and automated systems to the food industry for the detection of Listeria and Salmonella. The company is based in the Mansfield i-centre, a purpose-built innovation centre for knowledge based companies within the region.

Valérie joins the team

We at RayAl are very pleased and excited to welcome Valérie Bardin to our team, she joins us as our business manager for France.
France is the largest European market for food pathogens and we have already managed to secure some business there which provides us with a business platform from which to build.

The French food market has a large number of big laboratories that are ideally suited to benefit from the RayAl automated pathogen screening system. In addition, the French pathogen market is well developed and so we believe customers will be very receptive to our product offering.

RayAl Ltd, based at Mansfield’s i-centre was set up by Microbiologists Ray Wakefield and Alastair McCulloch in January 2003.  Originally the company supplied instrumental consumables to biotechnology and pharmaceutical laboratories.  However, demand for food pathogen testing systems led the business into the supply of diagnostic test kits for the food and veterinary sectors.
